ABOUT

What is all this stuff?

45 Weird Minutes is a personal and professional website created by Dr. Doug Melton. If you wonder about the name, see the Welcome page for a fun story and explanation.

This site features work I've developed through my involvement with the KEEN Network and Engineering Unleashed, along with additional tools, reflections, and frameworks related to engineering education — particularly related to the development of entrepreneurial mindset, student success and flourishing. By the way, there are a wealth of resources at Engineering Unleashed. While this site serves as my personal sandbox for ideas and is not directly affiliated with Engineering Unleashed, I encourage you to explore the resources available on that community platform.

This site includes AI-powered resources and exploratory perspectives on the future of engineering education. One key framework, The Quad, outlines a collection of topics that are timely for integration with engineering education. They include aspects of entrepreneurial mindset, a fresh view on project-based and experiential learning, the role of narrative and professional identity, and the development of elements of character.

This is the perfect place to say "Thank you" to the many people who have contributed to this content from the communities of KEEN and Engineering Unleashed, to those who provided the platforms, and provided the resources and support that have made this work possible. While this is a personal/professional website, I recognize how many organizations and people have shaped the content and the perspectives I offer here.

Thanks to the Kern Family Foundation for their belief in the related program-mission, to everyone who has served on the Entrepreneurial Engineering Program Team, to the members of KEEN and Engineering Unleashed communities, and to the many educators and students who have been part of this journey. The privilege of working with you is not taken for granted.

💼 Like shifting content within a working briefcase, this site reflects my evolving thinking and is always a work in progress. Content may be ephemeral and sections will open and close. I always welcome feedback and suggestions.
